A scroll for Luciano’s knighting. 9″x 12″. Gouache and ink on Bristol board. Collaboration with Tekla Myszkowa. Some things are a stretch. This scroll surely was. We had almost exactly two weeks to make this happen, offer to concept to finished scroll and knighting. But, Collaboration makes it happen, to borrow from Sesame Street. Our…

Sable Scrivner by Rannveig

Several years ago I received a Sable Scrivner award, but with no scroll. So, it went on the backlog list. Recently Masteritsa Rannveig picked up the assignment, and delivered this lovely piece in the braid style to me at July Coronation. I love it. It reads, in English, as follows: The skill and work of…

Printing for Summits Tabards

Summits was gifted a lovely set of linoleum blocks making up the Principality Arms, made by Tariq al- Ghassani, when HAH Niall attended Estrella. I used them to print up blue linen for tabards for TAH Antoine and Kathren, to be sewn by Baroness Ayla. Block one, the mountain and grail. Adding the griffin Final…

Minoan trial run

I made Minoan clothes based on the above fresco from Akrotiri and Potnia Vesta’s collegium handout . More of Vesta’s research can be found here. My goal was to use stash on hand whenever possible. I started with an existing yet roomy underdress. First step was to add the band across the shoulders. This was…

Mountain and Grail charter.

A charter(preprint) design for TAH Antoine and Kathren. I based it on a 16th c English indenture, swapping out badges and foliage for Summits specific imagery. Documenting and Registering Names for the SCA

Everyone in the SCA needs a name to use, preferably based in historic naming practices. In order to register the name with the College of Heralds, it needs to be supported with evidence, and adhere to some SCA specific conventions. When picking a name, I recommend starting with one of the name articles available on…

Laurel elevation details.

I was elevated to the Order of the Laurel December 1st, 2018. I had a ton of help with clothes, ceremony and much more. Victor, James, Ælfflæd, Vesta and Mir spoke for me. Joseph was my Herald, and Laurence and the kiddos processed in with me. I swore on the Orb. Medallion by Bill Dawson…

Laurel Vigil

I vigiled twice, in order to see people outside by local area too. My priorities were space to chat, a book and bread and salt plus goodies. Vigil One was at Collegium, and I have fewer pictures. I wore an ancient underdress, the Severian temple rings, and my paneva and apron. Marzipan in the shape…
